Miami and Coral Gables

Fractional CFO in Miami & Coral Gables

Senior finance leadership for owner-operated and PE-backed companies across South Florida, delivered from our base in Coral Gables. Fixed fees, defined timelines, and a partner who has sat on every side of the table.

Who We Work With

Built for the companies that power South Florida.

We work with owner-operated and PE-backed companies across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties, generally between $5M and $50M in revenue. In Miami that means construction and specialty trades, logistics and distribution, manufacturing, and professional services: businesses that grow on relationships and reputation, and that often run their finances on a bookkeeper and a bank balance.

These companies share the same inflection point. Revenue has outgrown the finance function. The books are clean enough to file taxes, but nobody can say what cash looks like thirteen weeks from now, which jobs actually make money, or what a lender or buyer would find under the hood. That gap is exactly where a fractional CFO belongs.

What you get

13-week cash flow forecasting

A rolling weekly cash model that shows what is collectible, what is committed, and what is actually available to deploy, so payroll, subcontractors, and debt service never arrive as a surprise.

FP&A and board-ready reporting

Three-statement budgets, variance analysis, and monthly reporting your board, bank, or sponsor can read without translation.

Office of the CFO leadership

Senior finance leadership on a fixed monthly fee: cash strategy, pricing decisions, lender and investor conversations, and the operating cadence behind them.

Transaction advisory and M&A readiness

Quality of earnings, working capital analysis, valuation, and integration planning, whether you are buying, selling, or simply want the books buyer-ready.

How it starts

Every engagement begins with a free 20-minute cash flow call. Bring your last few months of numbers, or just your questions. We will walk through where cash is actually going, what your current reporting can and cannot tell you, and the two or three things worth fixing first.

There is no obligation and no proposal unless you ask for one. If the fit is right, scope and fee are defined in writing before any work begins.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a fractional CFO cost?

Engagements are fixed-fee. The Cash Flow Package starts at $2,000 per month and the Full Financial Package starts at $5,000 per month, with a 13-week cash flow sprint from $5,000 for companies that need visibility fast. By comparison, a full-time CFO hire runs $25,000 to $37,000 per month in loaded compensation, and Big 4 advisory runs $15,000 to $40,000 per month.

How is a fractional CFO different from a bookkeeper or CPA?

A bookkeeper records what happened and a CPA files what the IRS requires. A fractional CFO looks forward: cash flow forecasting, pricing and margin decisions, budgets, lender and investor conversations, and the reporting cadence that ties them together. We work alongside your bookkeeper and CPA, not instead of them.

How many hours a month do we get?

Engagements are scoped by deliverable, not by the hour. A typical month includes a weekly cash cadence, a monthly reporting and review cycle, and availability for the moments that matter, board meetings, bank conversations, and hiring or pricing decisions. The scope is defined in writing before work begins.

Do you meet in person?

Yes. Sterling Equity Partners is based in Coral Gables, and on-site sessions are part of how we work across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. Day-to-day cadence runs remotely, with in-person time for board meetings, working sessions, and the conversations that benefit from being in the room.

What size companies do you work with?

Owner-operated and PE-backed companies doing roughly $5M to $50M in revenue. Below that range a good bookkeeper is usually enough; above it, a full-time CFO often makes sense. The companies in between are exactly who this firm was built for.
